Free seminar on World Digestive Health Day, May 29
11 May 2010
The City Hospital is marking World Digestive Health Day this year by inviting the public to a free seminar on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) on May 29, 10:00hrs at its ground floor Seminar Room.
IBD is comprised of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis — two serious, chronic digestive diseases that affect five million people worldwide. Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis directly affect the digestive system and cause intestinal tissue to become inflamed, form sores, and bleed easily. Hospitalization and surgery are often necessary and can greatly impact on quality of life, however, with individually tailored medical and surgical therapy patients with IBD can lead full and productive lives and many can have their disease in long lasting remission.
The lecture will be conducted by Dr. Peter Barrow, Specialist Gastroenterologist at The City Hospital.
Dr. Barrow will also hold a radio talk on Dubai Eye 103.8 FM on 22nd May, 19:00hrs for those who cannot attend the seminar.
