Inpatient Stays And Admission Procedures

  Inpatient Stays And Admission Procedures
Staying in the hospital can be a stressful time for patients and their families. At The City Hospital, we do everything possible to provide a comfortable environment for you.
  • What are the visiting hours?
    • 10:00 - 22:00 hrs

For the benefit of all patients on the floor, you are kindly asked to limit your visitors to not more than two at a time. In certain cases, visitors may not be allowed. Children must be under adult supervision at all times and are not permitted to run in the corridors.

There is restricted entry for visitors to the ICU. The ICU head nurse will inform you of this policy.

  • Where do I come on the day of admission?
For all cases you are requested to report to the admission's office at the ground floor at the time indicated on your booking form.

  • What does the admission procedure involve? Are there any financial formalities to be completed before admission?
To avoid any financial misinterpretation, prior to your admission, the patient administrator will provide a cost estimate for your hospital stay. This will be an estimate and the final bill may vary from this amount. Depending on the type of service your deposit may be increased to cover the cost of your treatment, and then you will be escorted to your allocated room.

  • How do I know if my insurance company has approved my in-patient stay?
It is very important that you identify your insurance corporate company at the time of booking your surgery. This is to allow enough time for processing your claim. Within a day or two after requesting approval, your doctor or nurse will inform you if there is a problem with your coverage. The insurance coordinator or the inpatient cashier can help you understand your insurance benefit prior to your admission and will gladly explain any policies you are unsure about. • What are the attendant charges?
Should a friend or family member wish to stay overnight, a sofa-cum-bed is available at an additional cost per day. However, this charge is waived in case the patient is 12 years of age or below. Food and beverages, other than the patient's therapeutic diet will be served at an additional cost..

  • What is provided by the hospital during my stay?
    • Therapeutic diet for the patient
    • Hospital gowns
    • Baby clothes
    • Basic toiletries (tooth brush, soap, shampoo, conditioner, towels)
    • Reading material (daily newspapers, magazines)
    • Neonatal top feeds (if required)
    • Meals for your attendants (at an additional cost)

We encourage you to bring along any items that will enhance the comfort of your stay: your personal sleepwear, robes, slippers, reading and writing material, personal toiletries, hair care, and for our maternity patients an outfit and a receiving blanket for the baby on the day of discharge and a camera.

Do refrain from bringing valuable items, as the hospital will not be responsible for stolen or missing items. Alternatively, you can deposit your valuables with the Security Department free of charge and collect them upon your discharge. You should receive a receipt which should be kept in a safe area or with a relative. Kindly inform your nurse to make the proper arrangements.

  • What are the discharge formalities?
Once the treating doctor confirms that the patient is fit for discharge, different departments work together the discharge process. This process can take up to two hours, so please plan ahead accordingly. When planning to depart, we request you and your family to please allow enough time for us to complete these formalities.

  • How do I make an appointment for a follow up consultation?
An appointment card with the time of your out patient follow up visit will be given to you upon discharge along with your medications and discharge card.
